Submission Process

 

The submission process has now been finalised and reviews are underway. If you have any questions regarding your submission, please do not hesitate to contact stemined2018@qut.edu.au.

 

1. PAPER PRESENTATION (Click here for the paper template)

Submissions are a maximum of 3,000 words including tables and figures, and one (1) page of references. The paper presentation will not exceed 20 minutes (including five minutes for questions). The submission must include:

  • Title (no more than 20 words)
  • Keywords
  • Abstract (250 words maximum)
  • Goals and objectives
  • Theoretical framework
  • Methodology
  • Results and discussion (if the results are yet to come, it should be emphasized)
  • Conclusions and significance of the study
  • References (one page maximum)

 

2. SYMPOSIA (Click here for the symposia template)

A symposia offers opportunities to discuss or examine a particular STEM education inquiry problem or topic through multiple presenters and expert discussants (maximum of five members). Symposium submissions are a maximum of 2,000 words or up to 45 minutes presentation time plus 15 minutes for Q&A. A symposium organiser will be responsible for identifying a theme or an issue significant to the STEM field and bringing together the presenters who will be able to contribute. The submission must comprise the following elements:

  • Title (no more than 20 words)
  • Keywords
  • Abstract (250 words maximum)
  • Proposed issues and themes for the Symposium and Rationale
  • Goals and objectives
  • Intended outcomes
  • The expected contribution from each Symposium member (kept anonymous for the initial submission)
  • References or other relevant information (one page maximum)

 

3. POSTER PRESENTATION (Click here for the poster template)

Poster presentations will have a designated time allocated in the program during which the authors of accepted contributions are expected to be present. References must be included on an additional single page. The submission must include:

  • Title (no more than 20 words)
  • Keywords
  • Abstract (250 words maximum)

 

4. INNOVATIVE SHOWCASE (Click here for the innovative showcase template)

Proposals are a maximum of 2,000 words including tables and figures. Innovate Showcases will have a two hour time limit. The proposal must include:

  • Title (no more than 20 words)
  • Keywords
  • Relevant online resources if available
  • Proposed time allocation (maximum 2 hours)
  • Abstract (250 words maximum)
  • Goals and objectives
  • Modes of audience engagement
  • Maximum number of audience participants
  • Special resources and requirements from the STEM 2018 organisers
  • Relevance and significance to the STEM field and conference audience
  • Expected impact for STEM participants

 

5. WORKSHOP (Click here for the workshop template)

Proposals are a maximum of 2,000 words including tables and figures. Workshops will have a two hour time limit. A workshop would involve 80% hands-on, with participants engaging with, and exploring, materials. The proposal must include:

  • Title (no more than 20 words)
  • Keywords
  • Relevant online resources if available
  • Proposed time allocation (maximum 2 hours)
  • Abstract (250 words maximum)
  • Goals and objectives
  • Modes of audience engagement
  • Maximum number of audience participants
  • Special resources and requirements from the STEM 2018 organisers
  • Relevance and significance to the STEM field and conference audience
  • Expected impact for STEM participants
